                                                                        Show & Tell
Show & Tell happens every day for every child

This activity is part of our daily schedule, and plays a significant role in developing your child's vocabulary, confidence,
and public speaking skills. Unusual and diverse items hold the most value. Children are encouraged to bring something to show
or be prepared with something to tell.
Though our time is limited, we do call on each child to participate.
Here are some ideas;
- special stuffed animal or blanket ( a good idea if your child seems anxious or unsettled)
- books are always welcome
- nature walk items, rocks, shells, pine cones, flowers,  feathers, bugs, leaves, etc.
- photographs of someone, something, or somewhere special. You can also send the photo by text to my phone.
- family pets. In the past, we have had the pleasure of baby goats, emu chicks, puppies/dogs, kittens/cats, a snake,
a variety of birds, a calf, rabbits, ducklings, chicks, and lizards.
- ribbons, badges, trophies, certificate of achievements.
- artwork, crafts, building projects
- whatever your child finds of interest to talk about, somewhere they went, something they did, or something they
learned to do.
- Dreams, both good and bad are interesting topics too.

Please try to guide your child in to bringing a different item to each class. If you encounter any resistance, just drop a few
items in the bottom of the backpack. We love to find a coin, small toy, funny fridge magnet, key chain...

*Children in the 3 Year Old Class on Tues/Thurs AM will be provided with a large, labelled Ziploc bag for show & tell items.
Little people in this age group like to claim each other's toys and treasures.

PLEASE NOTE
Lakeside Pre-school is a WAR TOY FREE ZONE.
Play guns, knives, and swords should be left at home.
Super hero action figures, Superman, Batman, Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, G.I. Joe, Pokeman, and
Transformers (those with guns) will not be accepted for Show & Tell.
These items tend to overexcite the children, and as a result, their play can become aggressive.

* Clothing, backpacks, slippers, and drink containers with super hero images are not restricted.
* Halloween costumes are also not restricted.
